History Of AMPS

The Association of Management of Private Schools (AMPS) was started by Dr. Angappan with the primary intention of providing assistance and a common platform for private CBSE schools to voice their grievances/requirements. The history of the association dates back to the 1970s when Dr. Angappan, an eminent educationalist from Coimbatore, who had applied for CBSE affiliation was made to run from pillar to post to get an NoC. After 5 long years, with great difficulty, he got the NoC and subsequently affiliation to the CBSE board in 1973. He felt it imperative for CBSE schools in Tamil Nadu to have a common forum for guidance and to address collective issues.

Dr. Angappan was instrumental in guiding many people to start CBSE schools in Tamil Nadu based on the experience he himself had garnered. To register an association a minimum of seven CBSE schools was needed, however he could not convince enough CBSE schools to join the Association. Dr. Angappan was firm in his decision to start an association, decided to bring on board Matriculation schools and motivate them to start CBSE schools.

Dr Angappan was supported in his endeavour by great educationists such as
